Medication for Bulimia
Antidepressants like fluoxetine, nomifensine, bupropion, trazodone and lithium carbonate, seizure disorder medication like valporic acid, carbamazepine, phenytoin, opiate antagonists such as naltrexone and naloxene are recommended in the treatment of bulimia. Some studies that characterize bulimia as more of an addiction disorder recommend limited therapeutic use of topiramate that inhibits cravings for cocaine, opiates, alcohol as well as food. It has also been found that bulimics reacted positively to treatment in addiction disorder in-patient units.
